Nah, Sekiro is harder since you can't just overlevel. And even then it's not that difficult on playthrough 1 (yes, demon bell notwithstanding). The only challenging fights were Demon of Hatred and Isshin. No idea why people got filtered by monke.

How? You just chug some dousing powder, go to a corner, dodge it and then slash its side a couple of times. Rinse and repeat. It's only "hard" if you try to fight it like a humanoid opponent.
Also, didn't you get the firecrackers by that point? Those made the fight even easier.
- Anonymous

I didn't think the dousing powder would help much, so I didn't even try it. Also, I did the remembrance later.
Anonymous Sekiro is easy because your attacks come out fast as frick and you can spam the block button. ER is much harder.

>your attacks come out fast as frick
Depends on the move. And that matters how? Dex builds in ER are even faster.>you can spam the block button
So can you in ER. And dodging is much easier there, too. No rolling in Sekiro.

>Did we really need a bunch of copy pasted bosses placed inside inappropriate arenas
Yes, because it's optional and it lets me fight my favorites of the bunch. This argument from fellow fromsoft players will always be moronic when they replay the games incessantly in the first place to relive boss fights often, which often includes less than stellar areas being replayed.- Anonymous

Reply
>it lets me fight my favourites a bunch
sekiro lets you do boss rushes and the other dark souls games are far shorter so you can go to those bosses without it being recycled across the game, this isn't even getting into bosses that are BAD that are recycled. Also if your favourites are repeated a lot...lol.Translation: a world with believable species, orders, factions, architecture from various cultures and different times, and proportions, is bad. Please frick off. I want more effort, not less. What I really, really want is for devs to quit being squeezed by constraints that cause us to lose content. You don't like huge games? Fine, they make games for you already, you hom*osexuals need to stop trying to take away these marathons from those of us that like them. We don't have many compared to you 20-dollars for 15 hr sh*theads.
>You don't like huge games? Fine, they make games for you already
FromSoft has demonstrated they do not know how to do open world games without copy pasting and making samey enemies. No I don't give a frick if you're totally enchanted by how epic it is there's a bunch of samey catacombs around because OMG IT MAKES LORE SENSE when the previous Dark Souls and even Bloodborne had equally realised worlds without needing roaming fields of literal nothing.
>squeezed by constraints that cause us to lose content
Like the constraint of it being open world and getting less content rich areas like Stormveil over pointless open vistas with pasted enemies that do not want to be interacted with?- Anonymous

>and the other dark souls games are far shorter
Elden Ring lets you skip vast swaths of the content if you really want to, including the "bad" recycled bosses if you really don't want to do them. Takes less effort too with teleporting and torrent. In the Souls trilogy you have no choice, there's a lot to run through and bosses you HAVE to face even if you don't like them.
>Also if your favourites are repeated a lot...lol.
Yes, it's a wondrous thing; Crucible Knights, Zamor, Bloodhound knights, Godskins, etc I get to enjoy them so many times. Enjoy your mandatory bed of chaos in the unfinished demon ruins though... lol.- Anonymous

kek all the dark souls games are infinitely quicker than ER in this regard because of good maps and shortcuts. good luck planning out your build paths because of all the item padding too. Let's not forget that Souls let you skip plenty of bosses if you knew where to go
>Yes, it's a wondrous thing; Crucible Knights, Zamor, Bloodhound knights, Godskins, etc I get to enjoy them so many times.

Why do you people insist on such drastic gimping of your characters? I understand that people like to eventually challenge themselves, but if you're not that good yet, stop letting people tell you how to play. In other words, you aren't meant to fight the blackblade kindred if you've used D's gate.

Are you forced to use spells in ER to buff your weapon/armors or can I just go full dex build without touching any faith/int sh*t?
I know you can probably finish the game with level 1 but I'm asking for a first normal playthrough.
I know people are saying the game kinda forces you to use summons because the boss will summon enemies as well but I think they're just bad, frick summoners.I don't mind using magic for buffs, but I'm not a gay hom*osexual who will use magic for ranged attacks.
tl;dr should I level up faith/int to make my first playthrough easier or should I fully focus on dex or strength?
- Anonymous

Reply
You can go full dex, but DEX build without bleed or powerstancing is probably the hardest non-gimping one in the game.
STR is very fun because you can buckbreak most bosses.- Anonymous

Reply
The thing is, I platinumed DS 1,2,3 with greatswords and full strength.
Now I'm replaying DS series before I'll start ER and I'm having fun with the dex build (with Uchigatana + shield) so that was my plan for ER as well.
So you're saying it's gonna be harder in ER huh?- Anonymous
1 week ago
Reply
If you want to go Uchigatana, you'll be fine, since it's got bleed (which is VERY good in ER) and katana powerstancing is very strong. I was mostly talking about rapiers and the like.
ER is obviously the hardest of the bunch without spirit ashes, but there are plenty of ways to take advantage of your build in most cases. STR just stance breaks everything, bleed melts health bars, and magic is, well, magic. "Pure DEX" I referred to doesn't have that luxury.
- Anonymous
Reply
Dex is extremly mediocre in Elden Ring unless you go hard on status effects i.e. dual bleed weapons or something. Strength rapes bosses with poise breaks on the other hand.
Aight I'll probably try with Uchigatna + shield as well, maybe I'll put some points into int for damage buff and go for full bleed.
Thanks

Rapiers are actually damn good in Souls games except for ER. Fast attacks mean counter damage galore and you can attack while having a shield up. Sorc with Velka's rapier in particular is pure kino in DS1.

you should lvl faith to 17 for flame grant me strenght and golden vow buff
there's tons of good dex weapons and buff spells, bloodflame blade is a great one that procs bleed
there's also the black buff one that gives your weapon black flame
DEX also has some super cool weapons like the Bolt of Gransax that shoots out lightning - Anonymous
1 week ago
Reply
You can also buff weapons with consumables, which are very strong in ER. I find it is far more efficient to focus on one damage stat for the first playthrough since the softcaps are so high, but a few points in faith can also grant access to a lot of very useful utility spells.

No and you're a moron for asking.
But so are the people going on about MUH SNES (snoozefest) GAYMES or whatever. Those were largely only ''''difficult'''' due to limited lives and no or few saves. Any modern game with an ironmode or the like blows them out of the water for that reason alone. And even contemporary sh*t like Super Meat Boy is mechanically harder than those old ones.

It's hard by normal standards but probably the easiest/most forgiving Souls game. Retrieving your lost souls/runes typically isn't a problem since it's set in a big open world where in most cases you can easily swoop in to grab em on your mount and leave unless you're in a linear dungeon area and there's always opportunities to build your character without having to grind the same area repeatedly.
