Nah, Sekiro is harder since you can't just overlevel. And even then it's not that difficult on playthrough 1 (yes, demon bell notwithstanding). The only challenging fights were Demon of Hatred and Isshin. No idea why people got filtered by monke.

I would assume it is if you played on sl1 and compared it to every game. Although the only sl1 i've done is ds2 and it was basically impossible once you get to the castle

Kind of? Most of its difficulty comes from legitimately bad game design. Elden Ring is hard in the same way that Ride To Hell Retribution is hard.

It's hard by normal standards but probably the easiest/most forgiving Souls game. Retrieving your lost souls/runes typically isn't a problem since it's set in a big open world where in most cases you can easily swoop in to grab em on your mount and leave unless you're in a linear dungeon area and there's always opportunities to build your character without having to grind the same area repeatedly.

The hardest game I ever played was Oblivion on max difficulty. That game had the dumbest difficulty balancing in vanilla.
