Temperatures of 20C are to be expected on Wednesday and Thursday, according to Met Éireann, as the current sunny spell continues.
A temperature of 20.2C was recorded at the weather station at Newport Furnace in Co. Mayo on Monday, making Monday the warmest day of the year so far.
Met Éireann says that further warm conditions are in store today and tomorrow, with the western half of the country likely to enjoy the best of the fair weather.

Overall, the forecaster says Wednesday will be another dry and sunny day, and temperatures may even climb as high as 20C or 21C in light easterly breezes.
Tonight too will be dry and largely clear, though a few mist patches will develop as temperatures fall back to around 0C to 6C.
According to the latest forecast, Thursday, like Wednesday, will be "calm and dry" with widespread sunshine. Thursday is set to be the warmest day of the current settled weather spell, with temperatures of between 16C and 21C expected.
As for the rest of the week, conditions will remain dry and sunny, though temperatures will start to fall back to the low and mid-teens by the weekend.

On Thursday night, some patches of mist and fog will develop, with some dense pockets possible. Aside from those, it will be largely clear and dry across the country, with temperatures dropping back to around 3C to 7C in light westerly or variable winds.
On Friday, mist and fog will clear in most areas early, though fog may linger for longer in coastal areas, particularly in the south. Conditions will then become generally dry and sunny in most areas, with temperatures ranging from 13C to 19C in light south-westerly winds.
Friday night will see some more mist and fog forming again in some areas, amid temperatures of around 2C to 7C and light southerly or variable winds.
Saturday too will be quite foggy to start, before further dry conditions set in. Saturday will be somewhat cloudier than earlier in the week, Met Éireann says, particularly across the west and north.

"There’ll be some hazy sunny spells elsewhere. Outbreaks of light rain and drizzle will move into parts of the west and north later in the day," the forecaster said. Temperatures on Saturday will be slightly cooler than in recent days, with daytime highs of between 12C and 16C expected.
By Saturday night, outbreaks of rain and drizzle in the west and north will become light and patchy, though it will be mainly dry elsewhere with some clear spells. The lowest temperatures on Saturday night will range from 4C to 7C.
Finally, Met Éireann says that Sunday will be a "noticeably cooler day" with temperatures dropping back to around 9C to 11C amid a mix of sunshine and light scattered showers.
